tl;dr: Let me entertain you, one hundred words at a time.
I write because I want people to read my stories. The trouble with writing a novel is that it takes a lot of time. One night in early 2015, I got bored with writing without getting any feedback, so I thought to myself: I love flash fiction. And I like a challenge. Why don’t I start a blog to write and publish a 100-word story every day? That way, I might get feedback on my stories but have enough time to keep editing the novel.
Et voilà.
Some days it’s a challenge and I end up publishing something I’m not all that happy with. Some days, I regret that I’ve committed to posting a story every day. Most days, though, I’m glad I did.
Just to reiterate: I love feedback. So if you have anything to say about my stories, please leave a comment. I’m happy to receive criticism as long as it’s constructive (y’know, don’t tell me it’s crap; tell me why it’s crap).
Want to know more about me? Okay, how about my 100-word intro and my six-month post, or follow me on Twitter and Instagram.
I think the 100 word-story is a great idea for creative writers. I think it might be come a challenge to manage to do one every day, but good luck to you. I particularly like Vintage Party Dress. Really nice story.

Hi Sonya. Just to add to the pingback I sent on Sunday… I’ve nominated you for the Liebster Award. I realise it’s far more than 100 words, but award posts are different things altogether. Obviously, I’d love you to accept, but you’re under no obligation to do so. Happy writing. 🙂

Yes, I saw the pingback. Haven’t got round to reading you post yet, however… But thank you so much for nominating me! I have a handful of nominations for awards, and I’m trying to come up with a way to deal with them. So I will accept, but it may take a while. Again, thank you, it’s lovely to receive an award nomination 🙂

I know how you feel. Award posts take a bit of time and this one particularly so because you have to find out how many followers people have before you can nominate them. I’m sure you’ll know how to do that – unlike me, who had to shout for Louise to help! You do deserve nominations, though, Sonya, because your writing is so good. 🙂 I’ve missed out on reading a lot of posts latelly because of my trip to Andalucia to do research for Book 3. I’ll never catch up posts I miss, but that’s just how it is. Talk again some time … Millie. 🙂

I love your “About” page, and the perfectly worked out method of dealing with writing in solitude, and writing for feedback, and for company. It’s a little akin to which I’m doing, except that I haven’t actually gone back to the novel/s that I began after I quit my teaching job. Still in settling-into-new-routine mode.
I look forward to reading more of what you write — thanks for visiting my site!

Thank you for your lovely words! Settling into a new routine takes some time – it’s a smart idea to establish it first before you tackle those novels 🙂

Merci beaucoup! J’espère you’re right about the Pulitzer… Je suis désolée, mon Français est un désastre.
I don’t really do award posts on this blog (they tend to be so much longer than 100 words), but I’ll have a look at your post to see if I can turn it into a story somehow. I do appreciate the nomination 🙂

I think I just might… Although maybe I’ll try the 5 days 🙂 How do you come up with ideas for an everyday post? Do you ever use prompts or are they all your ideas?

I use prompts a lot, picture prompts especially. I have an inspiration board on Pinterest, I take pictures of stuff that looks intriguing and I follow the writing prompt tag in the Reader. I also join this flash fiction challenge every week: https://flashfictionforaspiringwriters.wordpress.com/2015/12/29/fffaw-week-of-12-29-2015/.
Oh, and I’ve just written a guest post about how I keep coming up with ideas, too, if you’re interested: https://mslexia.co.uk/finding-readers-2-ideas-ideas-ideas/

It’s an old navigational buoy they’ve put on stilts at the waterfront – I thought it looked weird enough to make a good writing prompt 😀
